What a gorgeous shader! I think this is a great color - sort of a caramel with beautiful tones. The price is killer, though. I'm totally in love.

Sailor Cross Point & King Eagle Nib [Video]

Just some english writing samples of the Sailor Cross Point and King Eagle Nibs (King of Pen size). These nibs are designed for characters and can switch quickly between broad and fine lines, but I enjoy using them for daily writing and hand lettering!

Paper used: Leuchtturm1917 dot grid notebook
First ink (green): Toucan Aqua
Second ink (brown-red): Montblanc Red Chalk
Third ink (orange): Caran d'Ache Saffron

Both the Cross Point and King Eagle nib is mounted on a Classic Pens LB5 pen.

If that was fun, please like and subscribe - so at least I know I should do more fun things!

First Dutch Fountain Pen Group Meet!

On Saturday, February 18, 2017, the first Dutch Fountain Pen Group meet took place! We went to Dudok in The Hague, just outside the famous Passage, at a huge table full of pen lovers! After a leisurely lunch and chat, we headed over to P. W. Akkerman in the Passage, filling the store with enthusiasm (and probably noise).
First Dutch Fountain Pen Group Meet! 10
What's the point in meeting other fountain pen enthusiasts? You get to meet people who love the same hobby you love: a common love and insanity for fountain pens and accessories. I've met so many wonderful, hilarious, generous, kind people through this hobby. At the meet, we don't just talk about pens - we are developing friendships! The obvious fun part about meeting other fountain pen folks is you get to check out all their cool pens, inks, and accessories. It's an opportunity to share your favorites, and to try out nibs or pens you've never used before. Or fondle pens you never imagined you would get to touch.

P. W. Akkerman were gracious hosts as we filled the store. Some ink was purchased, a few pens, and the sweetest part was goody bags were organized for all attendees! What a surprise! The bags contained miscellaneous items, including delicious Hopjes candies, pen magazines (Pen World and/or Penna), a Graf Von Faber-Castell wood pencil, Waterman cards, and the best part: our choice of a bottle of ink from the original ink line up! Stellar, lovely people.

Side note: the store has some really neat things.

Not quite as intense as Apricot, but not ugly either!
Ink Shot Review @RobertOsterInk Peach @SakuraFPGallery 7

PROS

  • Pretty color!
  • Shades well.
  • Large-pen-friendly bottle.
  • Easy to clean.
  • Looks so good in a clear pen!
  • The label on top of the cap of the bottle has the name of the ink printed on it, as well as a tiny ink swab so it's easy to spot in your ink drawer/cabinet.
  • Easy to store bottles.
  • Robert Oster is a really nice guy, so I feel happy to support his creations.
Ink Shot Review @RobertOsterInk Peach @SakuraFPGallery 9

CONS

  • May be too light to read in finer nibs.

OVERALL

I seem to be drawn to colors like this - yellowy orange inks that shade well. It's hard to resist this, and with a cat named Peaches, I just couldn't leave without it! Well behaved, easy to clean, so pretty! It's just the kind of ink that makes my eyes happy when I use it, and I can't argue with that.

Stellar, beautiful ink! I love this pink - it's bright and happy and cheery. The bottle is also beautiful, so that the whole theme is just an experience. However, it's very expensive...
