PROS

  • Well-behaved ink - no feathering, minimal show through, very low bleed through.
  • Shows some pretty sheen.
  • Saturated, intense color.
  • Looks great and is legible using all nibs.
  • Particularly gorgeous in broad, wet nibs. Looks lovely in calligraphy!

CONS

  • Short, squat bottle that is a pain to fill from after the first one or two fills!
  • If you don't like the smell of ink, these might bother you. They have an acrylic scent that does not linger too long but if you are sensitive to smells, it may deter you.

OVERALL

Kobe inks are produced by Sailor in Japan, and Sailor inks are well known for their super saturated, gorgeous colors in perhaps slightly annoying bottles. Bordeaux is the second I have been able to review and I think it's another beauty. The color is rich and appealing, usable in many writing situations, and it simply pleases the eye! Not inexpensive, but worth having a bottle.

I received this item/these items free of charge for the purposes of this review. I was not compensated monetarily for my review. Everything you've read here is my own opinion.
