PACKAGING
Review Kaweco Sport Skyline Mint Fountain Pen - Broad @CouronneDuComte @Kaweco (1)
The pen is simply packaged in a black cardboard box that says Kaweco on it, along with some flourishes. The box is black and the writing is gold. Nothing fancy. I don't mind.

The Classic Sport Skyline resembles the other Sport fountain pens by Kaweco. This particular Skyline attracts my attention because I'm slightly obsessed with the mint colour. The finial has the Kaweco logo in silver metal, and it looks really great against the mint colour. If you choose the grey or black, it looks really awesome as well. The original Sport series has gold metal, and the ICE Sport series has silver metal, but that series isn't for everyone. The Skyline models are good looking. I hope they keep expanding the colours available.

The Sport Skyline is a compact, pocket-sized, portable fountain pen. The mint is a lovely soft mint.

NIB & PERFORMANCE
Review Kaweco Sport Skyline Mint Fountain Pen - Broad @CouronneDuComte @Kaweco (10)
The nib is small and attractive, and looks fantastic against the mint. It has the Kaweco logo stamped on it, along with small amounts of flourishes, and the nib size is also indicated. This broad nib had snug tines. The pen wrote but was on the dry side for my tastes. I made the nib a little wetter and it flowed more to my liking.

The broader nibs are a little inconsistent in their set up - I've had double broad Kaweco nibs that were perfectly set up to write with perfect flow, and this broad needed some adjustment. However, it's very simple adjusting and something you can do at home by yourself with very little instruction!

IN HAND

The Kaweco Sport models are very comfortable - I love the feeling of the plastic as it warms in my hand. I like to use mine posted because it's just the right width, length, weight, and balance this way. I can also use it unposted, but it feels a little short. I love how deeply and snugly the cap posts. It's very secure and feels safe.

The section is smooth and flares slightly towards the nib. The threads don't bother me and they don't feel sharp. I grip the pen quite low, close to the nib. I like the size of the pen for this because I still have good control over my writing, even when holding it so low, because there isn't much weight on the top end while I write.

OVERALL

Why does everyone want these? What makes them so appealing, when we all already have at least one Sport model in our pockets? Well, it's the same thing as when Lamy releases a new Safari every year. We all go gaga and tell ourselves we don't need it because we already have XX Safaris at home already... and then we end up getting one anyway. Given the relatively affordable price range, it's up to you to decide if you need one of the Skyline colours. I did. Do you?

I sure would like to know what you did to adjust the nib! :-)

I thought you already had one of these? I swear I just bought one because of your review. Mine came in a small cardboard slip case. No tin. :( I wanted a tin!

That's a broad nib? I have a broad on my Liliput & a 1.1 stub on my Skyline Mint & both are much narrower than yours.
